... and they don't seem to matter at what price...
Good thing for my friend Jonathan though, he's a sound technician who mostly works for reality TV... and I have to admit that I kind of enjoy to sit in front of my television and just laugh at these people...
After Idols, Big Brother, Star Academy, The Block, Joe Millionaire, The apprentice etc. we now have this reality show running called "seeking a daughter in law", four single guys have been presenting themselves during the commercial breaks, announcing they're looking for a match, and that their parents will help them with their search...
And it's sad... but in a way it's hysterical as well, and it's a good way for me to lose some frustration, because I just sit there in my sofa and shout at the guys, mostly in terms like "loser, you're not looking too good yourself", "get back under your cow..."
one of them specifically requested girls who were sportive and fit and well trained, because he practices a lot of sports himself... he was looking in on the table and he didn't like what he saw... some of the girls were a bit too overweight for him, and then there was a girl with really short hair and he wondered what "that guy" was doing there... good start for a relationship... ;-)
The new series of idols have started as well... I still don't understand what 99% of the candidates are doing there... they sing out of tune and completely off key and then they start crying because they've been told to take up singing lessons... come on... someone should have told them that they cannot sing... it's not like I'm the world's best singer myself, I sing off key as well, but I'm not waiting in queue for over ten hours to have someone tell me that... and then start crying afterwards because everyone I know is making fun of me for my performance on television...
But it's even getting worse, because most programs are reality TV nowadays, the people who used to be famous and who used to work for television are kind of getting put aside and have less work to do, ergo less income, so they found a solution for that as well...
Now we have reality TV with famous people; big brother VIP, Stars on Ice, etc.
And the company I work for now has digital TV as well and they decided to dedicate not less than 5 channels for big brother, 4 channels covering 4 different areas in the house and 1 channel which covers the four others, so you get an overall view, 24/7...
But if everyone gets fame all of a sudden, then we all get back on the same level again, it's harder to run into someone who hasn't been on tele for one thing or another, then to run into someone who thinks you should hold the doors and you should kiss the bloody ground because she's been in the BB house...
jep, my respect's growing on a daily basis...

I had the oddest day at work yesterday... two new people started working in our company and when I came back from lunch one of them was put beside me, this is not an unusual event, and I don't mind new people listening on my conversations, but this one was kind of different, since he's the son of one of our coaches (teamleaders). Still, I didn't treat the guy any different then I treat others, my coach and mate Willy (aka Kilroy, aka Max) came to sit with us and we were just discussing some things from work and kind of making fun of our manager. I had an simulation call too, which I fully screwed up since I misunderstood the point, I thought the simulation was an entire simulation, with created faults on the line and the ADSL connection, so I didn't understand the thing and the woman who did the simulation kind of got frustrated (not good, not good...), so I ended up sending her a technician for the price of 128 euros, which I didn't tell her, good thing I didn't put the appointment through or I'd have made it even worse.
Anyway, so the guy's training wasn't that helpful for him, he'd heard me handle about 7 calls, one where neither him nor me understood the customers language, so I struggled through the conversation with him next to me trying not to laugh, which made it even harder to concentrate.
Then, out of the blue, Steven, our mangager, decided to come and sit with us for a wee talk. Thing is that I kind of get along great with the guy, mostly on a personal level, he's the kind of guy I could sit in a pub with for hours and not get bored or out of topics for even a second. I know a lot of personal stuff about him as well. I started about me screwing up the simulation call, and he wouldn't believe me. He then said, not minding my colleagues listening in on our conversation, "I bet you get 90% when you're at your worst, while others get 70% at their best." (ok, that felt good, but a bit awkward towards my colleagues, it's like being the teachers pet) it even got worse... we started discussing the jobinfo, because I've been told that there'll be some vacancies in another department, and some people working there would really like me to get that job, one of them a union worker... Steven then said: "what makes you think I'll let you go that easily?" and then he tried to convince me to not settle for less than a teamleaders or managers function... which fully pissed off some of my colleagues
OK, I'm the teachers pet, worse even, because my companionship with Willy was already pissing people off, but now they've seen that I kind of have one with the manager too...
Hmm, can't wait to go to work on Monday...

ready for take off
Let's give it a go...
Here's a start at something I might again not finish, but anyways, here's another blog of mine, in English, where I'll comment on life as it is here in Belgium. :-)
Don't expect too much of it... :-)
