New hobby

I've got a new hobby, you'll laugh your arses off, but well hey, I have got to keep myself out of trouble ;) My new hobby is crochet, regular crochet and amigurumi, which is making crocheted toys and stuff. :) I'll post some pics of my creatures soon.

However, I already have a picture of Yaesseen and Ilyas wearing a snake scarf I made, only Ilyas' scarf is really visible though... ;) If anyone of you should feel like making a similar one, the pattern can be found here.

I believe in angels

It's the start of a song, isn't it? I don't really know who sang the song and how it goes further, the only thing I know is that the song starts with "I believe in angels", which I do too...
I don't remember if I already wrote about the subject, and I'm too bloody lazy to go through all my posts to find out if I did...

But ever since Ilyas' birth, well, ever since about a month and a half after his birthday to be correct, I started believing in guardian angels. I think I did before, but I was still on a search and I was just not open to it, I guess. But when Ilyas was a few weeks old he was a bit poorly and the doctors didn't really know what it was, first they thought he had a condition know as 'reflux', where acid from the stomach continuously comes up and inflames everything it passes. So we started treatment for that condition, which didn't help, so he ended up in hospital where they did some tests on him, it turned out that he did not have reflux. But since he gave a really strong reaction when they placed the tube through his nose, they thought he might have mucovisidosis (I think that is the right translation for it), so he got a test on that too. Luckily enough the test turned out negative, but they could still not point out what it was.

During that time I was e-mailing a lot with a colleague who's based in Brussels, he had some issues too and in a way we found each other in a difficult time (ain't that the best time to built good friendships!?). He was the first one who told me you could ask guardian angels for support, and he did so for Ilyas and the weirdest thing about it was that Ilyas was doing a lot better afterwards, he did it a second time when it was going worse again, and again, Ilyas' situation improved a great deal. When I came to think about it, there had been dozens of situations that turned out great against all odds, so why wouldn't there be angels involved in those situations (my father survived an accident with his parachute, which would normally have killed him, and he's not even in a wheelchair..., Yaesseen once had an accident when he was only 18 months old and he came out without even one scratch, etc.), so I started reading up on angels. I found a book with cards and in that book they advise you to take a test with the card, to check out if it's for real. Which it was for me, for Icky, for my mum...

So... I believe in angels, and I'm thankful for everything they did in my life to make sure I kept standing on my two feet, I'm thankful for the people they brought into my life, for everything really...

Some pics of last weeks party...

Yeah, so they've said I'm getting a big boy now, so I thought I'd stand up on my feet for that...
(or for the ones who know the "is mijn kont"-song: "is mijn kont niet te dik in deze broek???")

Father and son... Both Soufyan and Ilyas take after their father... :D Good thing there is still grumpy, moody Yaesseen who takes after me (and who's inherited my morning temper ;p)

But, look at them... :D

Yeah, the dealing starts early in this family...
Ilyas to Yaesseen: "hey bro, that's a nice car they gave you, can I have it??" ;p

Three years ago

Today was Yaesseen's due date, I remember Sunday April 4th 2004 like it was yesterday. Since Soufyan was born on 03-03-03, we thought it would be funny that Yaesseen would actually be born on his due date 04-04-04.

That time there were a lot of docu soaps about giving birth and a lot of those women accidently wet their pants and thought their waters were broken and they got induced, so we were doubting to do the exact same thing. But something held me back, I think it was the fact that I didn't want to make a fool of myself or didn't want to take the risk of not getting induced and then having to go to maternity when it actually happened and being there with red cheeks ;-)

So Yaesseen's birthday got delayed as well, fortunately enough not as long as Soufyan's, but the induction was not really interesting. However, I had fun though, after the epidural kicked in ;p

But the little man is already turning three, if you ask him how old he'll be, he'll try to convince you his fifth birthday is coming up ;-)

This weekend we're having a double birthday party, since it's really tiring and chaotic for both us and the kids, we decided to throw just one for Yaesseen and Ilyas instead of having one this Saturday and one next Saturday.

Damn, time is going way too fast, within 12 days I'll having a four-year-old, a three-year-old and a one-year-old son. It feels like I've just grown up myself ;)

Here are some pictures taken of Ilyas yesterday. We were at a baby drink and our youngest showed his best side...

While I'm at it

I'll post a pic of our two other sons as well :-)

Here's Yaesseen, he's the one who resembles me the most, both in character and physically. But he's easily agitated and when he is, you'd better keep distance ;-) unfortunately he's got my morning temper as well, I wish he didn't heritated that.

The difference between him and Soufyan is hilarious, when Soufyan wakes up (at the break of dawn), he's wide awake and cheerful, when Yaesseen wakes up, however, he needs his time, he'll be cross, and he prefers to wake up late :-)

This picture's dated too, since it's been taken on the same day as Soufyan's.

And now I proudly introduce to you our youngest son, Ilyas, who's a cheeky wee monkey, and a little bit lazy as well... He's not like other babies his age; he refuses to sit, while other babies his ages have been doing so for about four months, but he does clap his hands all the time, he gives high fives and he pretends to be an Indian, by shouting "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" whilst moving his hands to and from his lips ;-)
